​Claude’s Watermarks and their Legal Sector Impact​

Claude now puts "watermarks" in text it writes so people with the right tools can tell it was generated by Claude. It's based on the frequency of certain words being used in conjunction with other words. It shouldn't change the meaning of the output, but in legal writing, it is worth considering if it might.

A pro se litigant performed a "prompt injection" attack on the court by hiding instructions in their pleadings telling the AI to rule in his favor. The first question of "why are we worried about this" is: "why would the judge be outsourcing their judgment to AI?" But the questions go deeper. ​RingCentral data breach exposed info of 1.6 million accounts​

I use RingCentral as do a lot of attorneys and other business owners I know. There was a major data breach recently, but if they haven't notified you about it, it didn't affect you. A large amount of the data was leaked to the public on the dark web including a lot of what, if it were from an attorney's account, would be confidential information.
